A beautiful and remote setting makes Jebel Milehis worth a trip just for the views. Here you will find excellent trad and sports-climbing routes on rough sandstone. This together with the adventurous approaches makes for a different experience from most other crags in Sinai.
Getting there
On your way towards St. Catherine. when entering into Wadi Ghazala you can spot the flat topped mountain on your right in the distance. Follow dirt roads and deep sand tracks to the foot of the mountain - land cruiser required!
The Sectors in this area
The climbing Sectors on Milehis are quite small, surrounding the mountain from almost all sides. The hiking approach to some of them can be challenging and the character of the climbs is mostly adventurous, with the exception of the plaisir climbs "Magic Bean", "Twist in my Sobriety" on the East and SW face respectively. These are bolted generously with little distance between the bolts where climbing is tough.
The trad climbs mostly cross bad rock at some point, but usually have crack features along the steep sections, so protection is decent while the climbing is challenging, only on easier stretches over slabs you might struggle to place pro.
